Problems encountered
Before working with Tranquil IT, Tours Métropole Val de Loire encountered several difficulties in managing its IT infrastructure:
- Time-consuming deployment of workstations: manual installation of software and updates without centralized management, which was very difficult, especially with remote sites.
- Lack of update tracking: no effective solution to ensure correct application versioning.
- Limited existing solutions: the MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit) tool previously used was not suited to their needs, particularly when it came to installing specific applications.
- Technical team challenges: Time-consuming tasks related to the deployment method, the team had to constantly adapt to user requests. Depending on the workload, 1 to 2 people were dedicated to workstation deployment full-time during the week.

Managing the deployment of the solution
WAPT was rolled out gradually:
- First on the 50 test workstations;
- Then as workstations were replaced;
- Finally, across the entire existing IT infrastructure.
The version currently in use is 2.6.0.16. The implementation of the solution was accompanied by strong support from the WAPT community via Discord and documentation, greatly simplifying installation.
What WAPT has brought to Tours City Hall and TMVL
Since its integration, WAPT has transformed IT management at Tours City Hall and TMVL:
- Deployment time reduced from 4 hours to 30 minutes;
- Automation of software deployment and updates;
- Centralization and monitoring of installations via the WAPT agent;
- Optimization of reporting and integration with Grafana.
Today, thanks to their familiarity with the tool and the various tools provided by Tranquil IT to use it, the City of Tours and TMVL have successfully met the challenges of fleet management.
